Key Stage 1  Solve it...!    
Sticks and Shapes

You will need some sticks or strips of paper, all the same length. Use them to make these shapes.

 

Do you know their names?

How many other shapes can you make?

Now use only 12 straws. What can you make now?

E.g. you could make 2 rectrangles or 4 squares

Key Stage 2 & 3   Solve it...!    
Moving Matchsticks

How many different ways can you take away 2 match sticks so that you are left with 6 squares of the same size?

Here are another match stick puzzle to solve:

Can you move 2 sticks and make 8 squares of the same size?
