Sweet Shop



James has 20p pocket money. How many differnet ways can he spend it on sweets in Mr Jellybean's shop?

Example:

4 packets of chews 4 x 5p = 20p

OR

10 Cola bottles 10 x 2p = 20p

How can you show your working out?


Key Stage 2 & 3   Solve it...!    
Buying Fruit

Janey goes to the shop to buy some fruit for her mum. She spends £2 altogether. If she bought 6 pears, how many apples did she buy?

If she bought 3 times as many apples as pears, how many of each friut does she buy to spend the whole £2?

The next time she goes shopping she buys as many bananas as she can with her £2.

At the end of the day, bananas can be bought in bunches of 4 for the reduced price of 50p. How much money would she save if she waited until the end of the day to buy her bananas?

At the weekend there is a special offer on apples.

How much more would it cost you to buy 20 apples on a Wednesday compared to a Saturday?
