Numeracy problems to solve for Key Stage 1, 2 and 3 from our Numeracy Team. The Latest problems are here.
New problems every 2 weeks, with answers 2 weeks later.

Key Stage 1   Solve it...!
Star Path

Three starships must follow their flight paths to their base planets. They can fly through the Star Path Maze by travelling horizontally, vertically or diagonally.

The Purple Starship can only fly through numbers that are in the pattern of 25 (multiples of 2) starting at 0. So it could fly through 2, 4, 6, 8 and so on, and in any order.

The Green Starship can only fly through numbers that are in the pattern of 5's starting at 0 (multiples of 5) so it could fly through 5, 10, 15, 20 and so on, and in any order.

The Yellow starship can only fly through numbers that are in the pattern of 10's starting at 0 (multiples of 10) so it could fly through 10, 20, 30, 40 and so on, and in any order.

But to which base planet are the Starships travelling? You have to follow their flight paths remembering which numbers each Starship can or can't travel through.

You might want to print off the Maze and use some coloured counters for the Starships or draw and cut out your own Starship.

An Extra Challenge

  • Is there more than one route to each starship's base planet?
  • The rules have changed! The Starships can now only travel horizontally or vertically. Which routes will they take?
Key Stage 2    Solve it...!
Star Path

Four Starships must follow their flight paths to their base planets. They can fly through the Star Path Maze by travelling horizontally, vertically or diagonally.

The purple Starship can only fly through numbers that are multiples of 4. Eg 4, 60, 32..... and so on.

The blue Starship can only fly through numbers that are multiples of 7. Eg 28, 7, 35...... and so on.

The green Starship can only fly through numbers that are multiples of 6. Eg 6, 36, 24... and so on.
`
The yellow Starship can only fly through numbers that are multiples of 3. Eg 12, 33, 3... and so on.

To which base planet are the Starships travelling?
