School Nursing Team, The Lighthouse for Education

The team consists of qualified nurses and health care assistants who work between health and education. The school nursing team provide a link with primary and secondary schools, home and the community.

The school nursing team have a varied role and are based in the community and work in partnership with each of their schools to provide a service to children and young people.

This role includes:

Assessing the health needs of five year old children
Undertaking immunisations programmes
Running drop-in sessions
Supporting children and young people with complex health care needs
Contributing to school curriculum in delivering health promotion
Work alongside multi agency professionals to provide support and guidance as required
Undertake the National child measurement programme as directed by the Department of Health for North East Lincolnshire

Each school is allocated a named school nurse and a service is provided by the school nurse team. The School Nurse can be contacted through each of the schools if support is required.
