Getting it White for Education

The Education Development Centre is celebrating after being awarded the Centre of Excellence title from Promethean. The centre has been praised for its interactive white board training.

The Education Development Centre has become a Centre of Excellence for Promethean Interactive Whiteboards, now in use in many schools across North East Lincolnshire.

The authority's eLearning Team joined forces with the Literacy Team to ensure teachers could receive top-quality training to make the most of the state-of-the-art facilities.

Once the teams had completed rigorous training themselves, they now train teachers in how to use the boards, which have a number of functions including links to websites, video conferencing and interactive flipcharts.

Rupert Collins, ICT Adviser, for the local education authority, said: "The only limitation of the board is the teacher's imagination. It allows them to create amazing things."

Fewer than 10 IT training providers in the country boast the title Centre of Excellence.

Promethean came into the Heneage Road Centre to film footage to be used in a video about good practice for using the new equipment.
