The film clips (3,500 hours) and the stills (2,000,000 to choose from) can be used for educational use. They must not, however, be used on websites, published over the WWW or be used for any commercial purpose.

1. Go to:
http://www.britishpathe.com

Put in your keyword(s) in the search box.

2. British Pathe will display the results of the search - scroll down to find the clip you want.

3. Make sure Free Preview is selected in the SELECT A RESOLUTION box.

4. Click on the Download Video or Add to basket button.

5. If you select 'Add to basket' a pop up menu confirms that 'the item you have chosen has been added to your basket'.
You can find and add more clips.

6. British Pathe will show the clips you have chosen. If you have made a mistake or duplicated a choice you can remove it at this stage.

7. Check the cost is nothing.

8. In the ‘select country of residence’ box, select the down arrow and then United Kingdom. Click 'Proceed'

9. A form will appear asking for your email and address.
Make sure that ‘Remember me next time I visit’ is ticked.
Remove the tick so you do not subscribe to British Pathe newsletter and click in the yes button to say you have read the terms and conditions.
Click on the ‘Proceed’ button:

10. Select OK from the 'Are you sure?' box

11. You should now see a message like this:

12. Select 'Click here to complete your order', this appears:

13. Click the icon beside the name of the video similar to the one below to start downloading your film clip:

14. A window pops up with 'File Downloading Please Wait' on it. You may need to allow it to be downloaded depending on your computer.

15. You will receive an email confirming what you have downloaded with a link if you need to download the video again (available for 7 days).
