Are we out of Control???

Nunsthorpe Community School have been doing exciting things in Control Technology this term.

Year 5 and Year 6 have built Ferris wheels and controlled them using Logicator Control Software. The project was a joint project to utilise skills and knowledge from the subject areas of ICT and Design and Technology.
Pupils used a variety of card and hard materials to make the rides at Nunsthorpe School with the assistance of David Bunting and Polly Brettle. They then took their rides to Hereford Technology School where with the extra assistance of Mr Wood ( Head of Technology ) they learnt how to make the rides work using 'Logicator' Control software and Smart control boxes.
The total project took about 6 hours and occupied 3 afternoon sessions for each group. Pupils worked in teams of 5 to make one ride each. Altogether we made 19 rides which all worked when they were tested.
The conclusion was… we are definitely not out of control. Well done Nunsthorpe pupils.
