Chenery & Gimblett's hilarious music theatre version of Shakespeare's classic comedy uniquely blends the original Elizabethan Shakespeare with the modern language of today. Lydia Conway of the London Evening Standard described last year's theatre production of Shakespeare 4 Kidz Macbeth as "One of the most exciting versions of the Scottish play (either for adults or for children) that this ex-theatre editor has ever seen." "THIS IS SHAKESPEARE EVERYONE CAN UNDERSTAND" "Shakespeare 4 Kidz return with their hilarious musical adaptation of Twelfth Night - The tale of two twins, ship-wrecked off a foreign land and their adventures as they meet some of Shakespeare’s most famous comedy characters. Perfect for those studying Shakespeare at Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3."
Shakespeare
4 Kidz is a phenomenon and as each production surpasses the previous
one, in bothquality and audience attendance, you may be wondering what
the renowned Shakespeare 4 Kidz Theatre Company will achieve next. Currently
on their national tour of Shakespeare 4 Kidz Twelfth Night, it's worth
perhaps pondering what the secret of their success might be. Inspired by Leon Garfield's Animated Tales of Shakespeare, his initial project created three half-hour musicals based on three of the plays. Like all good entrepreneurs, he is extremely passionate about the service he provides and over the last four years, Shakespeare 4 Kidz has staged critically acclaimed and immensely successful productions of Twelfth Night, Romeo & Juliet, A Midsummer Nights Dream and Macbeth. The idea is simple. In order to create new audiences of the future and ensure that they not only understand but also enjoy Shakespeare's work, Julian and his writing partner Matt Gimblett take the text, translate it into a magical blend of modern and Elizabethan language, combine it with some songs and have a surefire hit! Julian believes that once children grow up with a love for the timeless dramas of love and power in this format, they will no longer fear the full texts when they come to study them later on. As well as a touring production each year, the company is extremely dedicated to it's educational programme and provides special teacher's packs, school workshops and their all-inclusive one-stop kit for putting on your own play. Over the next few years, they aim to develop and market film, TV and media versions of their work. Lydia Conway of the London Evening Standard described last year's theatre production of Shakespeare 4 Kidz Macbeth as "One of the most exciting versions of the Scottish play (either for adults or for children) that this ex-theatre editor has ever seen." This year's production of Twelfth Night, described as "a topsy-turvy treat of a show" is a timeless comedy classic, the hilarious story of two twins separated after a dramatic shipwreck. With neither knowing the other is still alive, we follow their adventures in a foreign land, meeting along the way some of Shakespeare's most famous characters - Sir Toby Belch, Sir Andrew Aguecheek, Feste the Fool and the puritanical steward Malvolio. Shakespeare 4 Kidz does for Shakespeare what Oliver! did for Dickens and this latest offering by the renowned theatre company is not to be missed!
"I
am extremely proud that over the past four years we have managed to
introduce over 1 million young people to the works of this country’s
greatest ever playwright. This has either been through schools performing
our shows as their school play - as many have done all over the world;
schools in the UK receiving a visit from one of our Education teams,
or by audiences visiting one of our acclaimed touring Theatre productions.
