The Reception class at Laceby Stanford Junior & Infants has been using the programmable robot, Pixie, in order to develop their knowledge and skills in the following areas:

  • how computers can respond to simple instructions
  • to manipulate objects with increasing control
  • to be able to use one-handed tools and equipment
  • to be able to describe a simple journey
  • to be able to instruct a programmable toy


Becoming familiar with Pixie’s controls
Guessing how many moves it will take for Pixie to move under the bridge












Trying to get Pixie to move into our garage. Planning the right number of turn and moves.

Writing instructions for a friend to program into pixie
Sending Pixie under our tunnel. Guess the number to make him move all the way through.
