This programme is initially designed
for Leaders of Professional Learning (CPD Leaders) from Primary, Secondary and Special Schools
(plus one guest if applicable, this
could be a fellow member of the Leadership Team, the Head, a Governor, etc). In the future this programme will be rolled out to
anyone with a responsibility for
leading the professional learning
of individual staff members.

Course Aims:

The objective is to enhance the competence and confidence of the leader for professional learning by:

  • Providing a blended learning opportunity including face to face sessions and in school development opportunities.
  • Offering usable tools and processes to underpin professional learning.
  • Deepening knowledge and understanding of how adults learn effectively.
  • Demonstrating how performance management and professional learning should be integrated into the development of each member of the workforce.
  • Create an enduring community of practice across North East Lincolnshire.

 

 
Course Details:

This programme will be upbeat and full of energy so course participants are asked to come along with a mind set for working together to find ways of overcoming some of the challenges of effective professional development.

The challenges of effective professional development....

  • Connecting learning to the knowledge, skills, experiences, aspirations and cynicisms of learners…and using these to positive advantage
  • Rooting professional learning organisational cultures…creating meaningful and authentic professional learning communities
  • Designing for sustainable - career long - engagement
  • Generating and communication clarity of purpose - including the moral purpose of professional development
  • Tapping creativity
  • Paying attention to learning styles and professional predispositions
  • Creating time and space for learning…really, virtually and metaphorically
  • Designing learning around real work and genuine priorities
  • Defining quality…evaluating effect
  • Levering leaders' responsibilities to create learning organisations

The programme will include a range of ingredients, including:

  • Enquiry
  • Reflection
  • Dialogue
  • Narrative
  • Study
  • Innovation

By the end of the programme, participants will have gained a wide range of skills, knowledge, tools and techniques. These will help individuals and organisations to identify and develop outstanding professional development opportunities for the children's workforce in schools.

There will be an opportunity to set up a supportive network of colleagues involved in leading professional learning.
